November 16, 2011   CARES participates in GIS Day "The Adventure in Our Community." 3-5 p.m. Columbia City Hall 1A & 1B 701 East Broadway. An open house of maps and presentations highlighting how our community uses geographic information systems and computer mapping technology to better understand Columbia, Boone County, and the State of Missouri.

November 6, 2011   Chris Fulcher presented "Community Data and Shared Learning Systems for Food Justice" at the 15th Annual Community Food Security Conference in Oakland, CA.

September 21-23, 2011   The 8th CIM convening was attended by 13 different organizations using CIM in their work. The CIM team presented an overview of where CIM has been and where it is headed during the opening presentation as well as giving a preview of CIM 3.0. Five CIM Partners presented ways they are using CIM in their communities. Chris Barnett led a workshop on understanding American Community Survey and Census data. John Barros, Executive Director of the Dudley Street Neighborhood Initiative, spoke to the group about aligning resources and measuring impact to create and sustain community change. Meghan Keaney Anderson spoke to the group about effective story telling with data.
