Title: Maintenance and Update of the Public Drinking Water Branch Source Water Inventory / Vulnerability Assessment Website, 2012

Project Description: The Center for Applied Research and Environmental Systems (CARES) at the University of Missouri currently operates and maintains a website providing access to information related to public drinking water vulnerability assessment and source water inventories for the Public Drinking Water Branch (PDWB), Missouri Department of Natural Resources (MDNR). Under this proposal, CARES will continue to work with MDNR to maintain and provide this web-based service. Significant improvements have been made to the processing and design of the map products available through the web site in recent years. These improvements provide a more usable product which better supports the needs of the Public Drinking Water Branch and those they work with. However, continued mapping and reporting needs were identified, and the need for improvements in supporting data has also been discovered.

Project Goals:

  • Receive quarterly and make available on the GIS Data website updated public drinking water layers from MDNR. Table 1 lists the data sets which may be updated
  • Update the Drinking Water section of the CARES Map Room to include the most recent publicly distributable data sets from the dataset list (for publically viewable layers only)
  • Support modifications to the Source Water Inventory maps as feedback from MDNR is received
  • Update quarterly the Source Water Inventory Project (SWIP) maps, data sheets, summary sheets, and susceptibility determinations
  • Work with PDWB personnel to review the web site content for currency and content. Incorporate the results of the review
  • Support system requests for custom maps and support Source Water Area implementations and inventories.
