Title:The New York Community Action
Project Description: The New York Action Agencies are charged with recognizing
and dealing with the problems of poverty in their state. A critical tool used by the
Community Action Agencies to better understand current local conditions is the Comprehensive
Community Needs Assessment (CCNA). This assessment relies on key sources of information
gathered from a variety of sources used to determine need in each region across
the state.
Missouri Association for Community Action (MACA) is well positioned to address the subject of
improving CCNA’s through the Comprehensive Community Needs Assessment Web Based tool.
MACA contracted with the Center for Applied Research and Environmental Systems (CARES) at the
University of Missouri to create and implement the CCNA tool for MACA. MACA and CARES will work closely with
New York State Community Action Association to develop a Web Based Tool that will resemble the MACA Web Based Tool as closely
as possible. Missouri data will be converted to New York where applicable and feasible. Those
data sources will be determined between MACA, CARES and Company , understanding that the
Company will be working with Rockefeller Institute of Government on the credibility of the data sources.
